Session bridge — Newton reads Claude Code
Reads sessions from ~/.claude/projects/ via the SDK's
supported reader functions. Same-machine only.
Researcher — the author identity, in one place
Deposits read these fields; nothing hardcodes them. The affiliation
should match the paper byline exactly — DOI metadata is harvested by
other systems and cannot be edited after a record is published.
Inter-Agency — who may sit at a table
Every door Newton declares. Whether a door can be reached is its own
affair — a window, a sign-in, a page that answers. Whether it is admitted
is yours, and it is decided here rather than in the loop that holds the table:
Newton obeys this switch and cannot flip it. A seat you hold back still appears
in a transcript, named, with the reason, because a table that drops a seat
quietly reads as a table nobody held back.

Tools — scan-tool API keys
Keys are written to the top-level .env and reflected in
process.env immediately (no restart needed). Only the five
expected variables below are accepted; values are never read back to the
browser, so the field shows only set or not set. Leave a
field blank to keep the current value, type a new value to replace, or type
— alone to delete.
Zenodo — the archive that mints the DOI
Personal access tokens, scopes deposit:write and
deposit:actions. Sandbox and production are separate keys
deliberately: a sandbox DOI is disposable, a production one is
permanent and cannot be deleted by anyone. Which host a
deposit targets is set in Settings → Researcher.
Written to .env. On save, keys become live for
run_external_scan without a Newton restart.

texlive Docker image ships most of these; Newton keeps a
.tex starter per format under
newton-light/templates/ and reports what it has

Research methods — the kinds of design an experiment can be
A closed vocabulary, shared by every project in this console, so
ablation cannot drift into Ablation or ablation
study across papers. declare_experiment refuses a
method that is not on this list. Each entry says what it establishes
and, more usefully, what it cannot — a case study cannot establish
generality however well it is written. The limits under the rule are
derived from each method’s standing against the four validity
types rather than written by hand, so a method cannot be added carrying a
flattering account of its own weaknesses.

Process types — what this work aims at, and what closing it buys
The level above method. A method is how one investigation is designed. A
process type is what the whole body of work is trying to do and what would
count as having done it. Four reviewers rejected the ICA submission and none
disputed the thesis: reading it as an invention, two asked for a baseline;
reading it as a science claim, two asked what was measured. Both were right
about the type they saw, and the paper had declared neither. So a project
declares its types here, and what it owes under each is
derived below rather than argued.

More than one is legal and is not a hedge: declaring both doubles what the
work owes rather than letting it pick the easier criterion once the reviews
are in. Adding a type binds every project, so it is an edit to
research-process-types.json, not a click.
